Achieving our Mission and Vision – Strategic Plan 2020-2025

We are pleased to share our Strategic Plan 2020-2025. The new Plan establishes the strategic foundation for our work.

This Strategic Plan reflects our preparedness as centre to proactively contribute to attaining national, Regional and global targets to improve capability, efficiency and governance, securing  the future of ACCG and enhancing  our scientific research and innovation through implementation of a focused research strategy that fall within this period.

Our 2020-2025 Plan is an evolution of our achievements as we continue to align and encourage implementation of research to address the world’s most pressing Climate Change Governance challenges, guided by the Sustainable Development Goals:

Goal One: Maintain a Focused Research Strategy

We will continue to focus our research on areas of unmet need, developing scientific research programs addressing the key climate governance challenges in Uganda and the entire region.

Goal Two: Invest in our Research Platforms

We will continue to develop our scientific research centers Climate science based research to ensure it is aligned with our research objectives, remains internationally competitive and is financially sustainable.

Goal Three: Invest in Our People

We will continue to build the skills and competencies of all our people with a special focus on scientific staff, specifically developing young graduates and mid-career researchers and supporting female researchers.

Goal Four: Ensure Financial Sustainability

As well as carefully controlling expenditure, we will strengthen our fundraising strategy and maximize opportunities for income generation.

Capitalising on our expertise, we have established “Humanitarian and Relief Services” as an individual goal, strengthening our responsibility to aid the Environmental Migrants (Climate Refugees) during times of disasters and recognising our enduring humanitarian response in Uganda, through our EMMEC  program.

In our continual commitment to attaining the Sustainable Development Goals, we have included a gender-related research theme, addressing key issues which affect women and girls in Uganda and the entire region.

Goal Five: Increase the Visibility and Impact of Our Research Evidence

We will build skills and partnerships to ensure that our research evidence has impact on national and international policies, programs and practices.

Goal Six: Improve Organisational Efficiency and Cost Effectiveness

We will continue to update and improve our research processes and governance regularly and modernise our operations to maximise efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Goal Seven: Emergency and Humanitarian Services and Response

Through our centre, we will continue to provide the authoritative source of data and analysis on Environmental Migration (Climate refugees) services in Uganda and beyond. We will also provide advice and training in humanitarian emergency response situations.
